Date:

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday that it has received over 15 million ticket applications from 142 countries since the application process for the 2027 World Cup began 12 days ago, reflecting the global interest in this prestigious tournament.

This premier 50-over ICC tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, and is scheduled to take place from October 2 to November 21. In a statement, the ICC said, “So far, 15,083,752 ticket applications have been received, with fans from 142 countries completing 4,423,417 registrations.”

Ticket registration remains open until November 21, 2026—exactly one year before the final is held at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta said, “The overwhelming demand for tickets is a testament to the popularity and prestige of the Cricket World Cup, the appeal of Africa as a tourist destination, and the excitement generated by the promotional activities of the ICC and its partners leading up to the tournament.”

The Cricket World Cup is returning to South Africa after a gap of 24 years. Gupta added, “With one year remaining until the tournament begins, the ICC has planned extensive promotional activities, campaigns across various platforms, and a series of special content. This will further boost fan excitement for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.”
